Ergonomics, posture and musculoskeletal disorders
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) are known to many of us. They are the back, neck, shoulder or arm pain that you feel for example after having worked for too long on a computer. By definition, they affect the bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves or blood vessels. They are often caused or aggravated by work or working conditions, but there are many other risk factors (e.g., ageing, obesity).
They are the most costly occupational disease in most Western countries.
But even more importantly, they are the source of a lot of pain to many people, they can lead to functional impairments or even cause permanent disability.
This website aims at explaining:
-
how the locomotor system is meant to function
-
how it can be overused by bad postures, movements or habits
-
how you can protect it throughout your daily life activities
-
how you can safely train to correct your posture and prevent MSD.
